Unlicensed Seizure Medication Assistants

    2025-2026 Unlicensed Seizure Medication Assistants for Monroe County Public Schools

    The Alabama Health Services Seizure Safe Schools Curriculum is the school nurses training program that provides a framework for local school districts to implement the Alabama Seizure Safe Schools Act (Alabama Act No. 2021-76). This act allows registered nurses to delegate to unlicensed school personnel in the school setting the nursing act of administering pre-measured medication for treatment of a seizure to students. Each local board of education shall provide annually a list of the school employees trained to administer seizure disorder medications to each parent or guardian of a student with a seizure disorder, each student and all other employees of the local board of education. The local board of education shall thereafter publish and maintain a list on the local board of education's website.
